Puerto Eden

It is a town located in the fascinating scenery of Bernardo O’Higgins National Park, area of winding channels, very high mountains and impressive ancient ice which magnitude can only be admired personally.

You get this peculiar village located in the east coast of the Wellington Island after an unforgettable navigation through the Patagonian archipelago. Known because of its geographical isolation, it is 60 km far (in a straight line) from the north of the capital city of the region, Punta Arenas. We are speaking about a different Patagonia, subjected to the endless rain and because of that Puerto Edén cozies to every traveler having an adventure spirit. Nowadays there are 250 inhabitants and around 15 of them are Kaweskar. The main economic activity is non industrial fishing and as a complimentary activity of Kaweskar cultures, the work craft of elements that in a time were essentials for surviving, as canoes and baskets, are highlighted. This fact, along with the experience and oral history, are a testimony of their way of life in the Patagonian channels.

How to get there: the only way to get Puerto Edén is by sea with the ferry boat sailing the route Puerto Natales-Puerto Edén-Puerto Montt (72 hours).
