You can access to Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic Region either by land, air
or sea.
Flights arrive to Patagonia city capital, Punta
Arenas from Santiago, Chile's city capital, and Puerto Montt.
By land it is necessary to cross Argentinean territory. There are enabled six
border crossings, Monte Aymond,
Rio Don Guillermo, Casas
Viejas, Dorotea, and
San Sebastian and Bellavista
at Tierra del Fuego.
By sea, ships travels through Patagonian channels, from Puerto Montt.

AIRWAY
Flights
from Santiago, Puerto Montt or Puerto Natales land at Carlos Ibanez del Campo
international airport of Punta Arenas, located 20 kms. north of Patagonian capital
city. From the airport to downtown Punta Arenas, by Route 9, the north highway,
the estimated time is 25 to 30 minutes.
At the airport there are buses, minicabs and taxis that transport passengers to
the city or other places as request.
There also are regional flights from Porvenir
and Puerto Williams.
Connections also exist with the Argentinean cities from Calafate, Río Grande
and Ushuaia.
OVERLAND ROUTE
Most
of vehicles coming from other Chilean
regions or Argentina enter Magallanes using Route 255, Monte
Aymond - Punta Arenas, after traveling by Argentinean territory.
There are regular overland transportation companies that run between Punta
Arenas and Osorno by this route, in about 36 hours.

OVERLAND
The main overland access is by Route 9,
Punta Arenas - Puerto
Natales. Other choices are border crossings of Casas
Viejas, Dorotea and Rio Don
Guillermo, open the whole year.
AIRWAY
There are regular and charter flights from Punta Arenas and Argentinean city El
Calafate to Puerto Natales in high season. .
SEAWAY 
On a ferry specially equipped to transport passengers,
vehicles and cargo is possible to get to Puerto Natales from Puerto Montt. The
journey lasts four days and three nights and there is a round trip weekly..

PLANE PUERTO NATALES

Porvenir is the capital city of Tierra del Fuego, the second geographic
sector of Magallanes Region.
AIRWAY 
There is an airline with more than a daily
frequency between Punta Arenas and Porvenir. The flight lasts approx. 15 minutes
in Twin Otter or Cessna planes, according to the demand..
OVERLAND 
Para llegar a Porvenir es necesario cruzar
el caudaloso Estrecho
de Magallanes a Tierra
del Fuego es necesario embarcar en los ferries que zarpan desde Tres Puentes,
en la ciudad de Punta Arenas, o en la Primera Angostura, distante 170 kms de Punta
Arenas, embarcaciones que tienen acomodaciones tanto para pasajeros como para
vehículos.
SEAWAY

To reach Porvenir, at Tierra del Fuego, it is necessary to cross the Magellan
Strait aboard ferries equipped for passengers and vehicles, that sails from Tres
Puentes, in Punta Arenas, or from Primera Angostura, 170 km. far from Punta Arenas.
The trip from Tres Puentes lasts 3 hours and there is round trip frequency every
day in high season (November to February). From March to October there is no ferry
on Thursdays.
PLANE
PORVENIR
There are regular flights from Punta Arenas
in high season and three weekly in low season in Twin Otter or Cessna planes.
SEAWAY  
Every Wednesday sails from Punta Arenas a ship with passengers
and cargo to Puerto Williams that returns on Fridays. The trip lasts 36 hours
approx. .

SEAWAY  
Puerto Eden can be reached only by seaway aboard the Navimag ferry.
From Puerto Montt, north to south, the journey through the channels lasts 2 days.
From Puerto Natales, south to north, the journey lasts only 1 day.
The ferry sails from Puerto Natales on Fridays and from Puerto Montt on Tuesdays.
